Emergencies and storms
If you have a medical emergency, call 911.
What you need to know
- Port City Medical keeps a 24-hour emergency line: (251) 443-7667 — after hours it forwards to on-call staff.
- Before a hurricane or severe weather: contact us to confirm your supplies and any backup equipment needs. During hurricane season (June to November) keep at least two weeks of supplies on hand.
- During a power outage: your equipment may need backup power — contact us if you need guidance.
- Keep a 5-day supply of your medications and equipment-related items, and keep our contact information in your emergency kit.
- Patients on life-sustaining equipment (oxygen, feeding pumps, ventilators, CPAP) are on our Priority Contact List: we call before a storm and check on you after it.
- If your area is evacuated: call us with your new address so we can coordinate supplies at your destination when possible. Dial 2-1-1 for shelter locations.
- After the emergency: contact us if your equipment was damaged or lost.
- If you cannot reach us during an emergency and you need your prescribed supplies or equipment, go to the nearest emergency room or treatment facility.
